A reply to an email that I sent to UKIP, asking about their gun control policies -

Dear Mr Showell

Thank you for your message, which was forwarded to Nigel Farage.

UKIP is very much in favour of licensed gun-ownership, and deplored the Charity Commission's removal of charitable status from organisations teaching the responsible use of firearms.  We note also that the growing incidence of gun-crime is in direct proportion to the restrictions placed on the ownership, by respectable people, of firearms.

Yours sincerely

Andrew S. Reed

Very interesting that they added this extra nugget at the end as well. It seems many in UKIP could actually realise that handing criminals a defenceless target is leading to higher crime rates.

I'm not even British but I would vote UKIP 3 or 4 times if they would let me.

I do vote Libertarian here in my little hut in the woods but they only let me vote once.  That is the problem with being well known, I cant get away with anything.

I do agree with UKIP on most issues, but for some reason people seem to think they are a racist party :S Their leader was interviewed on 10 O'Clock Live a couple weeks ago, greeted with a huge "boooooo" from the crowd as he was introduced

they let you vote libertarian?! i thought you could only vote democrat or republican in the US?
i find it odd that if i say guns, drugs and prostitutes in the same sentance, people assume that i mean organised criminals.when i could just as easily be talking about libertarians.

Its not that most people think that it is a racist party, it's more the perception that it is a "single issue" party.

Thanks to UKIP spitting the Conservative vote, the UK now has to endure 5-years of the "BrokeBack" ConDemed coalition which is coming up with policies that nobody would ever vote for on either side on a daily basis.

An intellegent version of the BNP without any of the racist, neo-nazi undertones is crying out to be formed in the UK.  ;)

There are two such parties, the Libertarian party and the British Constitution Group.

Sadly, any party that dares to challenge the big 3 will inevitably get tagged something to make it seem undesirable.

Its only a matter of time before the british constitution group and libertarian party are branded as BNP offshoots, simply to tarnish their image.

There are a lot of parties but because the people are not paying attention and the votes go to the parties with the money because they get their names out front the same ignorant crooked non-American socialist greedy pigs keep getting reelected.

As individuals we may have our heads on straight most of the time but when it comes to politics it is the old follow the leader mentality.  Grandpa voted this way and so did daddy and so will I.  I am a black sheep in my family because I actually pay attention to the issues and vote my conscience, not what the crowd votes for.

The good thing about Obama getting voted in and then watching that clown single handedly make a laughing stock of himself on the worlds stage and a buffoon in the monetary arena is it opened up a lot of peoples eyes and they realize that old school Republicans and Democrats are not the answer.

Next 10 years will tell whether or not we get our Republic back or we go the way of all great dynasties, swirling around the hole and then disappearing with a swoosh while the barbarians storm the gates and take over the reins of power.

I think that it is mainly leftists that do not like UKIP. Pat Condell is a atheist on youtube, with alot of viewers, and I think it was about this time last year, he p***ed off alot of people, by mentioning that he was going to be voting for UKIP.

I really wish people wouldn't use terms like left and right. I used to think I knew what they meant but I really don't any more. I believe in minimal government and the RKBA but I also believe in the UK NHS as one of the greatest innovations of the modern world. I would probably also have kept British Railways as a nationalized industry in order to provide a public service where it was not commercially viable to do so. I'm also an atheist (like Pat Condell). What am I? Am I right or left? -- I don't know any more.

Nolan chart and a few others.

http://freedomkeys.com/nolancharts.htm

The kind of things you run across when you are a Libertarian.  In Economics class, (about a hundred years ago), they introduced us to various leadership styles using a 3 dimensional cube for a graph and ever since then I have been fighting the left right designations for everything.

This is quite a comprehensive quiz: http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/political-spectrum-quiz.html

Post results here, to get the URLs of the graph images just rightclick and go "copy image location"

Quote
Compass:

You are a center-right social libertarian.
Right: 1.51, Libertarian: 6.38

Foreign Policy:

On the left side are pacifists and anti-war activists. On the right side are those who want a strong military that intervenes around the world. You scored: 1.13

Culture:

Where are you in the culture war? On the liberal side, or the conservative side? This scale may apply more to the US than other countries. You scored: -3.14

I always thought I was quite left wing, but the Libertarian bit is no suprise

This is why I dislike left right charts, it pegs you in a spot and makes assumptions that are usually completely wrong.  I would have reworded some of the questions but so it goes.  Peoples assumptions about me being a far right wing one topic whacko would be completely wrong.  Well maybe not about the whacko part, I stand by that class proudly.
